-
- Chaz, I have a 9 year old A2000. I win. Actually, I didn't receive the
- beginning of this argument. I just pointed out that Macs can have more than
- 18Mb of RAM.
-
- The computer industry doesn't stand still. I'm not comparing old Amigas to old
- Macs - what's the point? It's like comparing Model T Fords with horses and
- carts - it's irrelevant to any argument (unless you're just nostalgic) - though
- if you care, my A2000 has an 040 board capable of taking 64Mb of RAM. However,
- all older Macs save the very early ones can have similar custom jobs performed
- on them, for less than the Amiga accelerators. Therefore, I'd take issue with
- your statement of your A2000 kicking say, a Mac IIs arse, because as standard,
- it simply *wouldn't*! Try upgrading a Mac II with an 040 accelerator and check
- again!
-
- Fact - the first Macs only allowed 4Mb at best. The next series went up to
- 10Mb (the same as standard 2000s and 1200s). After this, Apple went a bit mad,
- and the Quadras and so on took just way too much.. I mean, 768Mb?? In
- comparison, the A4000 takes, gosh, 18Mb on the motherboard. Well, I'm pretty
- darn impressed.
-
- The Amiga *doesn't* have much software. This doesn't mean what we have is bad,
- per se, but I would enjoy more variety. I'd say this horse is pretty much dead,
- but mine still takes me where I need to go.

- >ignorant enough to try and feed me a pile of doo doo, I'm gonna' light my
- >torch.
-
- I'm confused here. What exactly did I feed you? I certainly didn't lie about
- anything, as you're claiming. I wouldn't say I'm ignorant either, as I've used
- Amigas since 1988, Macs since 1986 and PCs since 1984 or thereabouts. I
- actually convinced my high school to install some A2000s for music and art all
- those years ago. I prefer my Amiga, but that's not good enough reason for me to
- start dribbling shit about other platforms, now is it? Your attempt at
- attacking me personally doesn't add anything to your argument - personal attacks
- are the last defence of the losing side... :)
-
- Let's be honest, *all* our Amigas are extremely slow, have incredibly outdated
- graphics and sound capabilities and cost far too much to upgrade by modern
- standards. Whinging at people who have recognised this won't change anything.
-
- Now leave me alone, I need to make a phone call to Germany to order a Piccolo
- board, and to England to buy an SX32.
